 Abortion

I am uninterested in the question of “when life begins.” Quite simply, I believe strongly that a person has the right to decide how their own body is used. That is all that is needed for me to be “pro choice.” Even IF there is another life involved, this does not somehow negate bodily autonomy.

Sometimes the decisions you make about your body are very challenging and may require tough ethical decisions, but none of that overrides the fact that it is still your right.

For the record, I don’t believe that “life begins at conception.” It is obvious that a fertilized egg is not having a human experience and I suspect that most people who argue the opposite are either being disingenuous or conflating figurative with literal language.

It is more interesting to debate whether life begins at heartbeat, or the beginning of brain activity as those are functions that we can positively associate with the experience of being a living human.

Regardless, this really doesn’t matter to the overall question, because even if I granted that a fertilized egg is a human life, I would still stand by the bodily autonomy argument.
